J. Chris McGee, CFA, CAIA - Chief Investment Officer - Director of Research - Principal
Chris serves as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Director of Research, and heads the Investment Committee for Hedgeo. He draws on many years of experience in formulating Hedgeo's macroeconomic view, evaluating factors such as economic growth, business cycles, employment, inflation, and international variables to form our capital markets view and investment strategies. Previously Chris served as Chief Investment Officer with Caldwell Trust Company for nearly six years, overseeing the management of more than $1.5 billion in assets while chairing Caldwell's Investment Committee. Prior roles for Chris include Senior Vice President for PNC Wealth Management in Sarasota for nearly a decade, where he built assets under management (AUM) from zero to approximately $1 billion. Chris provided executive-level leadership and guidance to PNC offices in Orlando, Tampa and Naples, Florida. Before that, he was Portfolio Manager for five years with U.S. Trust (now Bank of America Private Bank) in Sarasota. Before relocating to Florida, Chris served as Vice President of Capital Management for Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Chris holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. Chris is a member of the CFA Institute, CFA Tampa Bay and CAIA Association. He has served both as a grader and on the Candidate Curriculum Committee for the CFA Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia. He served on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization Selah Freedom in Sarasota from 2014 to 2020.
